Yantai City College of Science and Technology(YTCC)is a full-time higher education institution approved by the Shandong Provincial Government and registered with the Ministry of Education. It is located in Yantai, a city recognized as one of China’s first 14 coastal open cities, one of the three core cities driving Shandong’s replacement of old growth drivers with new ones, a key city within the China (Shandong) Free Trade Zone, a six-time recipient of the National Civilized City title, and one of China's most charming cities.
The YTCC spans a planned area of 1,028 mu (approximately 171 acres) with 400,000 square meters of campus buildings. These include academic buildings, practical training centers, a library, a gymnasium, an art museum, an equestrian hall, residence hall, and dining facilities. The YTCC employs over 300 faculty and staff and currently enrolls more than 7,000 students. By 2025, the student body is projected to reach 12,000.
Committed to serving national strategic needs and aligning with regional industrial development, the YTCC actively integrates into the broader framework of Shandong Province’s efforts to the replacement of old growth drivers with new ones, as well as its green, low-carbon, and high-quality development initiatives. With a focus on the themes of “urban development” and “technology,” the YTCC is building five major academic clusters: urban intelligent technology, urban business management, smart elderly care, new energy vehicles, and urban planning and design. Currently, the YTCC offers 23 high-quality programs that are closely aligned with regional industries and provide promising employment prospects. These include majors such as Intelligent Control Technology, Industrial Robotics Technology, Aircraft Electromechanical Equipment Maintenance, Big Data and Accounting, Modern Logistics Management, Entrepreneurship and Business Management for SMEs, Network Marketing and Live E-commerce, Artificial Intelligence Technology, Big Data Technology, IoT Application Technology, Computer Network Technology, Integrated Circuit Technology, Rehabilitation Therapy, Smart Health and Elderly Care Services and Management, and Pet Medical Technology.
To foster faculty development, the YTCC has implemented the "Six-in-One" Teacher Quality Enhancement Program, the "2+1" Young Teacher Growth Program, and the “Dual-Qualification” Teacher Certification Program. It has cultivated a team led by renowned experts and industry leaders, blending full-time and part-time faculty in a balanced structure. Program leaders are headed by doctoral supervisors and national technical experts. Faculty members with master’s degrees or higher account for 62%, senior-level faculty for 31%, and 50% of the faculty are "dual-qualified" teachers with practical industry experience or professional certifications. The YTCC has appointed one "Master Craftsman of China," one "Master Craftsman of Shandong," one provincial-level teaching master, and eight visiting professors from renowned institutions such as Peking University.
The YTCC actively promotes the integration between industry and education, and between science and education, creating a school system structured around "Four Parks and Two Colleges" — teaching parks, industrial parks, science and technology parks, and entrepreneurial parks, supported by modern industrial colleges and academic colleges. The YTCC participates in the development of the city’s industry-education consortium and industry-education integration community. It has established modern industrial colleges in partnership with companies such as Huazhong CNC, UFIDA Xindao, and Suzhou Funa, collaboratively developing programs and implementing a dual-subject education model. The YTCC also advances reforms in student education management through a college-based system, establishing a "Five-sphere Integrated Plan" of student development community that integrates life, learning, education, service, and management. Peking University has set up an Ideological and Political Practice Education Base on campus, and NPI has co-established the "Social Innovation College" with the school, working together to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled professionals who possess "three literacies and one skill"—digital literacy, humanistic literacy, vocational literacy, and professional skills. In 2023, the YTCC ranked first among the newly established vocational colleges in Shandong Province in the province's annual quality assessment for higher vocational education. It also successfully passed the new vocational college teaching and management evaluation conducted by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education.
The YTCC remains committed to its founding mission of “cultivating talent for the Party and the State"." It upholds the mission of "lighting the future through education" and practices the core values of "openness, innovation, perseverance, and vitality." The school strives to fulfill its vision of "empowering every student with the ability to create a better life" and is dedicated to becoming a high-level, innovative vocational university with distinct characteristics and strong advantages.
